Grief filled the streets of Bannu on Wednesday as thousands gathered to mourn the victims of a deadly suicide attack that killed 18 people, including six children. The assault took place on Tuesday when militants drove two vehicles packed with explosives into a military base in the northwestern town. According to the military, multiple suicide blasts caused part of the base's outer wall to collapse, damaging nearby buildings, including a mosque and residential areas. Among the dead were 13 civilians and five soldiers. Hospital officials confirmed that six of the victims were children, and at least 36 others were injured. Local residents described the funerals as the largest the town had ever seen. "Buildings have been destroyed, and those still standing are unstable. Any accident can happen," said Riaz Wazir, a shopkeeper who attended the burial. The military reported that 16 militants, including four suicide bombers, were also killed during the attack. No group has claimed responsibility, but Pakistan continues to face rising violence from Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which has been targeting security forces near the Afghan border. Rescue teams are still searching through the debris for possible survivors, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack, vowing that those behind such violence will not succeed. For this reason Fundmegram file fundraiser for the victims families.
