On Saturday afternoon (September 30th) Nick suffered from a seizure. Upon arriving at the Emergency Room, Nick suffered multiple seizures and was quickly intubated so MRIs and CT Scans could be taken. The seizures were due to swelling from a tumor they found in his brain. Nick underwent surgery on October 1st to remove the tumor and remained in the ICU for a few more days. On October 16th, the pathology results showed that Nick has Grade 4 astrocytoma, Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM). Glioblastoma is a very rare and aggressive brain tumor and unfortunately the conventional approaches of surgery followed by radiation and chemotherapy are not very effective, at best they help to slow the spread. Nick is on a mission to defy the very poor odds. He is fighting for his 2 daughters and his wife. He will begin a 6 week course of radiation and chemo pill in November. Family and friends have been researching high and low for any and all alternative therapies that will provide Nick with a better chance. The number one thing our family is asking for in this time of uncertainty is your continued prayers and thoughts. We are praying for a miracle — for a full recovering and healing for Nick. If you feel so called to contribute to our family financially, your support will help provide alternative care that is not covered by insurance. One of Nick’s goals is to go to the Cancer Center for Healing in Irvine, CA and be seen by Dr Leigh Erin Connealy.
