If you’re receiving this, you likely know him—or know someone who does. They call him "DMC" Donny McCall, a beloved member of our community who now needs us more than ever. On Sunday, February 23rd, 2025, DMC was involved in a horrific motorcycle accident while returning home from Las Vegas, where he had just attended a brother’s funeral. About 30 miles south of Baker, a truck veered into his lane, clipping his front tire. The impact launched DMC and his bike, resulting in life-threatening injuries. He was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Hospital in Colton, where the medical team has worked tirelessly to stabilize him. DMC has sustained devastating injuries: fractures in both his upper and lower leg, foot, and toes; broken ribs; a punctured lung; broken collarbones; a fractured shoulder blade; internal bleeding; a brain bleed; and pneumonia. Despite his incredible strength, the road to recovery is long and grueling. Following surgery on his upper leg, DMC was placed in an induced coma and put on a ventilator. After nearly a week, he began showing signs of waking, and on March 6th, he was successfully removed from the ventilator. Although he is now conscious and working hard to communicate, his journey to heal is far from over. His resolve to get up and even ask for a cold beer highlights his fighting spirit—but he has a long way to go before reclaiming his independence. DMC will be out of work for an extended period, and the financial burden on his family is overwhelming. With mounting out-of-pocket medical expenses and the necessity for long-term care over the coming year, we are urgently asking for your help.
